All,
We have 11 chickens total, five of which are red stars from my MIL. We thought they were all hens...but this weeked I noticed after spending more than my usual amount of time looking and talking to the chickens at chicken level, that one of them has spurs! He/she looks like a little hen, no saddle feathers or anything amazing to see, but definitely has spurs, about 1/2 inch long. I just had him/her upside down and the vent looks like a layers...I'm so confused!
Can a roo over a year old have such small spurs and no other male signs? I've heard of hens acting dominant, like a roo...can a girl grow spurs? (This isn't the most dominant bird of this flock of 7, either, so that's even weirder.)
Thanks!
