Hen pale waddles

i have a hen with pale waddles. She has distanced herself from the flock and is off. This eve I will check for mites. Any other ideas?!

Unlikely. It probably has to with internal issues. I had a six year old cock that developed pale wattles last year. About 4 months after I noticed it, he died. I did not do a necropsy but suspect some organ failure that led to anemia.

How sad. She was one of (possibly the) top on pecking order. I have noticed my white stepping up. That will leave me with an uneven number. Recommendations?

You could try googling anemia in poultry to see if there are any recommendations for treatment.

As far as uneven numbers, I prefer to have more hens than cocks since some cocks prefer to have more than one mate.
