Hen passed blood clot & weird egg membrane

I just finished catching up on this, I'm glad that the implant is available to you and is working well. I just wanted to say, though, if it comes down to it, the surgery could still be an option for your girl. I just had one of my hens go through it, due to internal laying and she did great. Of course, surgery is always a risk, even for us, but I was surprised to learn that my vet has done these surgeries a fair amount, and anesthesia for birds has come a long way. It's scary, but can be lifesaving. I'm hoping you don't need to anyway, just wanted to add some positive experience on that side.

The avian specialist had time today, thank god. (I didn't sleep well last night. Or at all.) He didn't say much, but he didn't seem concerned at all and thought she was in great condition. Told me there was no need for surgery and I could just keep coming back for new implants whenever the current one ran out.

Which is a huge relief.

Anyway, Pluisje now weighs almost 200 grams more than when she started, has actual real muscle tone on her breast, and was all in all pretty cheery until the implant started failing. With any luck, her luck will hold with this new one.

I'll keep watching this thread in case anyone else stops by with any questions about the process or what happened (or if something does happen to Pluisje soon).
I'm glad the vet was able to see her and give another implant.

Hopefully this one will be as successful as the last.
