Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have 16 hens that are very happy and healthy and layin lots of eggies however, 2 hens have in the last week lost their feathers on their butts. at first I thought of molting but now it appears they have been pulled out. are these 2 fighting or is yet another hen doing it ? thoughts? solutions.thanx

yes it can be something she is doing or others are doing. did you find the feathers or are they eating them? if they are eating them they are looking for a protein increase. second check for bugs. make sure she does not have them. I use a product for pecking called rooster booster Peck no more. it treats the area with tea tree and stops the pecking. its a purple lotion. you put it generously on the area and they hate the smell so much they stop pecking. mine pecked once and that's all it took. she hated it so much she stopped her pecking. you can give it a try. it worked perfectly for me. I liked it so much I grabbed a couple bottles to have on hand. its about 8 dollars at the feed store. I like it because it also treats the raw or sore area too. I was really impressed on how well it worked for me. you would want to keep it applied to her bottom until her feathers grow in. even then you can use it anywhere you want them to stop pecking. I even used it on my chicks backs when they were getting pecked on by my older bird. it stopped her from pecking on them! then when I stopped using it she still stopped pecking. it works really well. it doesn't smell very good but gets the job done. hope this helps you out. it's worked with my birds. good luck!!

thanks for the info . I'll try it. couldn't hurt huh/
