One of my hens was broody so I put her in a separate broody cage where I temporarily kept a young crowing rooster. I was adjusting his no crow collar, so I needed easy access to him. On the second day, I notice that his legs were bleeding and the hen was pecking at his legs. He looked traumatized, so I let him out. After about a week, I let the broody hen out and watched her in the evening. I saw her trying to peck the newer hen legs, but they seem to know about her and just stayed crouched on the perch where she couldn't get to there feet.
Anyway, for breeding purposes I was wondering if it was something the leg pecking hen figured out by her self or was it innate like the psychopath gene? Will her offspring's be leg peckers?
