Hen pecks another hen WHILE Rooster is mating?!

I saw a disturbing act today. My Serama rooster Jack was in the act of mating with Serama Betty when Serama Sally started pecking Betty. Sally attacked Betty twice while Rooster Jack was mating with Betty. Why in the world would Sally attack Betty?

Maybe Sally was jealous! Sally must want all of Jack’s attention!

I guess. Jack’s a pretty happy guy with 3 hens. Not sure why Sally’s gotta be mean. Chickens can be weird!

I had Jack and Sally first. They arrived last May. Betty and Lucy (who doesn’t seem to be an issue) I got a few months later. They have all been together since last Sept or Oct.

Probably just some pecking order stuff.
Hopefully it's not too drastic...and may pass after spring surge.

He just did his thing and didn’t seem phased at all.

Hopefully it will pass. Betty is last in the pecking order as is. Sure would hate to see them become more violent towards her.

Birds don't display human emotions like jeliousy or other emotions. She reacted to the Birds submission. Definitely trying to move up in pecking order.
