I have a barred rock hen who is 5 years old. I noticed today that she is looking lethargic. She has some tail feathers missing and some scabs on her face and comb. I'm not sure if she's injured anywhere else. What I can I do to help her heal? She's inside now separate from the flock on a heating pad getting hydrated.

The missing feathers and scabs may not have anything to do with it, likely the roos doing. Have you felt her crop and abdomen? Checked to make sure she is not egg bound? There are many things that can cause A hen to be lethargic, I haven't heard of a roo causing it though.

She could have been attacked by an animal, carefully check all over her for any other wounds. Small but deep puncture wounds can sometimes be hard to find.

There weren't any wounds to find. After being inside for a while and giving her some water she is starting to move around a bit more. I couldn't feel anything for her being eggbound.
