hen produced sound meaning nasty

Game hen (Sallie) with 9-week old pullet in tow came across a leaf bug very similar to but not exactly same in following link:

Sallie normally eats just about anything she can swallow including small vertebrates and most insects. This insect though caught Sallie's eye causing her to approach but once she made it out she began making a version of the trilling / purring sound made when she is not happy. At same time she almost violantly shook her head and walked away. Spud (pullet) looked briefly at insect and turned rapidly away. At least some potential for vertical transmission of knowledge from parent to offspring. I also know from experience that the bug in question taste a lot worse than the average insect.
