Heather - absolutely - my red star lays the biggest eggs of all my current chickens. I thought they were double yolkers at first but no, they're just huge eggs! She lays nearly every day too. She is a rescue from our local animal shelter - found wandering around in a bad part of downtown Des Moines. She was skinny as a rake when I got her and I wasn't sure if she would make it. Someone had debeaked her all the way back to the nostrils. Cruel. Anyway, she is doing fab now, and after about 2-3 weeks of giving her loads of TLC, she suddenly began to lay those huge eggs. I never expected her to lay anything after all that she'd been through. Poor girl. She's now my chicken-puppy. Follows me around everywhere and comes when called. I just love her.
