Hi, our 1 year old austrulorp mix went broody. We let her lay on 5 fake eggs. Today was day 19 and we put 6 chicks under her, not at the same time, about an hour or two apart. Four Buff Orpingtons and two white crested black polish... she seems to accept them all no problem then later today she would peck at the Buffs.... not a gentle peck as she did with the polish kinda hard and she would growl at them... we took them away and now she is acting like a hen should with the polish chicks cooing them and gently pecking them showing them what to eat. Why would she reject the Buffs? She would stare hard at them them peck them. Should I try and put them back under her tonight? I'm afraid she'll hurt them in the morning.... ugh we really didn't want to raise them in a box, we wanted the hen to do the raising. Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks
