Hen Retirement

Mine are all pets and I don't really care if they ever lay eggs, I just enjoy them and thats enough to keep them around. Sometimes my older hens lay eggs and I break them on the ground and let them eat them. They love eggs.

Yes my hens can retire & relax when they don't lay any more. They seem to enjoy themselves. I hope they do.

I have three bantam EEs that are slackers.

One lays the occasional egg but the other two seem to have stopped laying all together. I'm not exactly sure how old they are. They are the babies of my Dad's birds he purchased six years ago so they could be as old as five years.
