hen setting 1 egg what if not fertile?

I know! I'd be scared to get up too! Poor thing, she's my favorite chicken too. Unfortunately, the egg is a really dark egg (marans) and I can't see in it to candle it. I'm afraid she's wasting her time. I have lots and lots of other eggs to put under her but she's underneath my deck and I can't get to her. :-( I was having to use a rake to gather her eggs.

I am elated! I love that sweet hen. She talks to me all the time in the sweetest like clucking. She even let me see the baby this evening. I swear she acted proud for me to see it.
