Hen Shivers Uncontrollably

My favorite hen Sophie (Porcelain d'Uccle-see avatar) is now 3 years old. I can't figure out why but when I hold her she shivers uncontrollably. She has been doing this for about 2 years, but it never seems to bother her. I tried setting her down, but she still does it. She just shakes (more in her feet) then stops, then shakes, then stops....

I don't know if this is relevant but: She lays regularly in the spring and fall but not through the summer or winter that I know of. I just gave them the lice treatment (Sevin-5%) and do every two weeks. It is about 105 degrees and the only rain we've had lately was a sprinkle about 3 weeks ago. She has been eating and drinking normally and I feed them, a mixture of 25 scratch/75 layer and they have food in their feeder at all times. Any ideas what causes this?

It is odd, indeed. But if she has been doing this for 2 yrs and hasn't died yet, at least you know it doesn't mean there's something terribly wrong with her. Sometimes that's the way it is with chickens. You see some odd behavior, no one is sure what it means, but the chicken lives on....

Odd does she ruff her feathers and shake like after mating? But yeah after two years. "but the chicken lives on." Just like that line.

Could be when you pick her up, you set off the nerves to set that off in her. When you pick her up note how you hold her and stroke her if you pet her.
