All my girls are laying but sometimes they go into the nesting box but come out and sing their egg song. Most of them do this. Yesterday one was singing and she didn’t even go into the nesting box?! Why do they do this? They still do it after they lay their egg. Thanks!

:idunno In my experience it's just what laying birds have always done. There's nothing like the 'music' of a large laying flock.

Understand that the 'egg song' is not always about an egg 'right now'.
Could be before or after... or later,
and not about about eggs so much as calling for the cockbird.

There is a call very similar to the egg song that mine do when they are nervous. Sometimes it is just one bird, sometimes the whole flock gets going on it. Maybe something to do with this. Other than possibly that I agree, they just can't be trusted. I don't speak chicken so I am not always sure what they are saying.

Yes, alarm call is very similar.....I can't distinguish the difference.

exactly! When mine get excited to see me they make a similar noise. Or when a friend or family member they dont know comes around they do it as well. Like a said they cant be trusted until you see an egg lol Shoot even my roosters make similar sounds and i know they aint about to lay anytime soon lol
