Hen stays all day in the nest box.

I have one hen that just sits in one of the egg laying boxes all the time. She seem healthy, but is not laying eggs. Just seems to really love that box.
The other 5 hens are all normal, laying and enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
What is wrong with this one?

If she only comes out once or twice a day to eat, drink, and poop, then she is probably broody and hoping to hatch some eggs. Does she have any fertile eggs under her?

Yup, I agree...sounds like she is going broody. How old is she?? Do you have any fertile eggs you can slip under her?

One of my production Reds went broody last year. I only had three hens and no roosters, so I needed every egg I could get. I put her in a little cage in the middle of the run by herself everyday for about a week so she couldn't get to the nest box and she eventually got over it.

Someone told me last night that a baby aspirin will help with broodiness because it lowers body temp. Anyone ever heard that?
