Hen stopped laying

Hey folks! Here’s yet another “newbie” question:

My 2.5yo Buff Orpington hasn’t laid an egg for four or five days now. Usually over five days she’ll lay 3-4 eggs. She seems to be eating and drinking and her usual nosey curious self. It’s been very hot here, so I’m wondering if maybe it’s just the heat. But since the rest of the girls are laying fine and she didn’t have an issue with the heat before, I thought I’d check in and see if there could be something more I might be missing. I appreciate any wisdom you feel like sharing that could be useful.

Is it possible your hen has a hidden nest somewhere??
It has happened to me several times.

It’s possible, but not likely. We had been free ranging them quite a bit, but I can no longer handle the havoc their wreaking on our yard, so we’ve been keeping them cooped up most of the day and just letting them out in the late afternoon/evenings.

Hiding a nest could be something to look out for.

I think that what you're considering is equally probable. Extreme temperatures can impact a chicken's laying cycle.

My 3 and a half year olds stop laying in the summer heat (35-40°C+)
