My previous experience with raising chicks was meat birds so this is my first time of raising egg layers and allowing them to hatch out eggs.
I currently have 5 Dark Brahma hens three have gone broody and are currently hatching their first clutches of eggs.
Yesterday morning I went to check my hens and we had four chicks that had hatched and one in the process. While checking on the chicks I removed the empty shells and put them on the floor. While I was checking the second box one of the two hens that didn't go broody came in and grabbed one of the shells and ran outside with it.
Is this normal behavior? Should I be concerned that this hen may become an egg eater?

I would add, if you catch them with an egg shell, crush it and bring it back to her. It is easy for them to become serious egg eaters if shell is whole. If she wants it great... just cook an egg and mix it with it. Chickens come from very smart tribes lol
