I've got one hen in a cage whie i'm treating her for a problem. She's spending nights in the house and days in the run. This morning she is trying to crow! Why?!

I haven't heard of hens actually crowing like a rooster crows ... my hens have made some interesting sounds though. The one time I had a pullet trying to crow... she wasn't actually a pullet... I had a rooster!

How old is this girl and what breed?

if there is no rooster around, then yeah hens will take over their duties. Crowing is very important to the chicken community, so if theres no one to else to do it, a dominate hen will. But it says in your sig. you have 2 roos, so this is strange to me that your hen would find it necessary to do it for them. The only clue I have is that she is seperated, so she thinks she is an "army of one" and needs to do the crowing. just a thought, I dunno. Or like Donrae said, if it is a very young chicken you might have a roo and didn't know it?

Oh, she's definately a hen. She's a 1 yr old Golden Comet and is still laying her daily egg for me. She had her neck feathers all ruffled up and was definately trying to crow yesterday morning. She didn't do it this morning. I thought maybe she felt it was necessary since the rooster crows in the coop every morning and with her not being there she felt she needed to keep her routine. :)
