A month or two ago our young Border Collie went after our chickens, she did get a hold of a few, but we did not lose any, some had feather and skin removed. The one I need advice on is 2 ½ to 3 years old Ameraucana hen. The skin that was removed on her was around her vent; she is still healing but healing well. I think she is trying to lay an egg but the skin around the vent is not stretching so the egg can pass. She keeps pushing and nothing comes out. The skin around her vent bulges out and when I feel around it feels hard. She has been like this for 3 days. Any ideas on what it can do for her?
I can post photos when I get home from work.

Oh my! Can u put a little preperation H around her vent to help with lubrication and maybe if theres any swelling it would help. Hopefully someone else has more info and can help better.

Soak her in a warm sink bath for around 15 minutes then blow dry her on low. The bath should soften the tissue and relax the muscles around the vent and hopefully allow her to pass the egg. After she's dry smear some vaseline around the vent area to further soften the skin and provide some lube then put her in a crate (or whatever) inside where she can stay warm and comfortable and you can monitor what she's eating/drinking and whether or not she's pooping. Sometimes you have to repeat the process, but hopefully this will do the trick.
