Hen turned Rooster !

I am somewhat hoping this happens to one of my older hens, but I have a fe wroosters doubt it will.

I have had chickens for over 70 years - sometimes large quantities and the only instance that I have ever witnessed was in my friend's flock. I seriously doubt that this occurs very frequently. It has nothing to do with the presence or absence of flock roosters. It is all about hormonal changes due to ovarian anomalies.

Oh, I have one of those. My dominant hen is even starting to look roo-ey, too. She still lays, but not as much as she used to. She doesn't crow, or mount other hens, but she's certainly in charge. And yeah, she grew a full spur on one leg only.

Ya it’s just weird she’s the only one trying to mate and the only one who has spurs which she did not have when I got her from a friend . I just asked my friend and it turns out she’s 4 so that’s probably a case of the older bird thing
Thanks everyone

I wonder if this did transpire in my flock if it would get the hen killed?Would my roosters look at her like a rooster, escpecially if she transpired in the flock, wonder what confusion this would bring to the flock?
