Hen Vs Rooster

Hi All,

I'm a little concerned, either our Barred Rock is having an identity crisis or we ended up with a rooster. She/he has started making an odd sounding crow the last couple of mornings and as we are not supposed to have backyard hens in our city I'm a little concerned. Does anyone know if this is a temporary hen thing as they go through puberty or do I have myself a rooster?
