I've been treating one of my hens for bumblefoot. To make a long story short, she's had Baytril .5cc daily for 5 days, now we are trying LA200 every 3 days on advice of my vet. I've soaked. I've removed the "bumble" or kernel of yuck in her foot. Her foot remains swollen, now the swelling is creeping toward the shank. She does not want to walk. I'm desperate and frantic to try to help her. What else to try or do? I've read other posts, I've done just about everything others have done--but this infection isn't responding. I really want to help and save this hen, though I realize it may be futile. Anyone have any "Hail Mary" ideas?

Wow...batril's supposed to be pretty good, from what I've read. The only thing I've used for bumblefoot was amoxicillin (from an animal supply place) - bought the caplets online - opened them up and mixed into yogurt several days straight. The foot is being kept clean - not being exposed to poo/dirt? You might also crate her during treatment, to limit attempts to walk around (plus easier to keep clean). Sorry you're having such a hard time with what is usually a fairly minor ailment

Hopefully someone will be able to offer suggestions that I haven't thought of....

She won't walk at all. I've got her separated from the flock. She is on soft hay during the day, and at night in a crate w/shavings. I've kept the foot wrapped w/3x antibiotic on it. I did a sugar/iodine poultice. I'm at my wit's end and am beginning to be desperate. Something has to help, right?
