Does anyone have any suggestions on this one. She is almost 2 (in January) lives with a flock of 16 other hens and a rooster. They are free range and put up at night. We live in Northern Calif so it is pretty warm still (upper 50's at night). I had a chicken die 2 days ago, I don't know her age but I don't think she died of old age. She was a little lethargic for a week, but didn't show any signs of distress. Getting back to the one I think is sick. She has been molting pretty bad, along with a couple of other chickens. This morning I went out and she is acting broody, walking around feathers ruffled and talking alot. She also is walking sideways slightly and is having trouble keeping her wings in place. She straightens them up and then they start to "slide" down and then she has to bring them back up in place. She is staying away from the other chickens and when I threw her some food, she pecked twice and then slowly made her way. I don't know if she is laying, but I would guess not with her molting so bad. I have checked all the other chickens and everyone seems fine. She has no signs of a cold/virus. I am going to put her up just in case. Please let me know your suggestions/treatment.
Thanks,
Lisa
