Hen went *POOF* missing last night

Well, as those of you who are FB friends already know - it was a predator. Lost a total of five hens, including my favorite.

Sorry for your loss

I know foxes can take chickens without leaving a trace of evidence.
They end up carrying the birds back to their den and sometimes bury a few (as back up snacks).

If you have foxes in your area they could be the predator

Thanks y'all. We didn't find piles of feathers when Bella went missing last night, but we did find multiple piles when the others disappeared this morning. It rained hard this morning, so lots of mud but DH didn't find a single track. That and the way my two top hens were scanning the skies and growling makes me think aerial. The crows were very active and noisy too. I'm hoping the crows chased whatever it was far, far away.
