We have chickens housed with guinea hens so it gets quite loud in their barn; however, through all that screeching I noticed that one of my hens making very strange noise. I would describe it as wheezing. I also noticed that she is opening her beak when breathing, I did not check her nostrils though...
I am thinking that it could be due to a cold nights that we have here in Upstate NY - it gets into single digits at nights lately, and we have heavy winds some days and nights. Although it does not look like our barn is drafty, I cannot be too sure that it is totally draft proof, some hens stay isolated at different locations, could she get chilled somehow ?
She looks beautiful and normal, except for that strange loud wheezing noise. She is a BO, either 8 months or 1y 7m old (shame on me !)...
I was also reading about gapeworm briefly...
Thanks to ALL !
