So, if you've seen me around, you know I have one problematic hen, Goldie, especially when she's broody. She's a pita, beotch, and just mean-- not to mention it takes 5-6 days to break her.

She's been acting a bully as of late too-- towards all hens, newer layers and older ones. As you can see by her mug shots she's on holiday! Lol

Would a new coop solve her issues (selling her) or is dinner the only way?

It is quite normal for a hen to behave nasty towards other flockmates when she starts to get broody (again), as by acting aggressively she warns the others off to stay away and not invade her private space which she already is preparing as a safety zone for the future chicks.

You often see on here that there are too many good roosters out there to put up with a bad one. I feel the same way about hens. The way I read this she is always a pain, just worse when broody.

She should not be that hard to sell. A change of venue could change her attitude. Personally I'd eat her. But I raise mine to eat and I eat the girls as well as the boys. I'm always hatching and raising replacements.

Thanks, that's what I was asking, if a change of venue may work or just dinner. I thought I had read that some broodies when moved no longer go broody, so wasn't sure if it may work-- as in, if it worth trying to sell her to put her on some other unsuspecting person if she continues same behavior.
