Cherokee is about 2 years old. Not sure of her breed, but best guess is Rhode Island Red. Lives with 5 Lohman Browns, each about 12 months old. Her eating, drinking, pooping, and energy are all normal. She had her first molt late fall of last year. New feathers came in great and gorgeous. She has not laid since the molt, except for a brief period in mid-December (her normal before the molt was 3-5 eggs per week). Noticed today that she has gone bald around the eyes and her comb looks white. (My mom is the primary chicken caretaker, but she is 95% blind; however, due to other things I had going on, I haven’t been out to see the chickens for 2 weeks, so not sure when this developed.) The eyes themselves look clear and normal. We just came out of a long period of frigid weather in the single digits (coop stayed around 20-30 degrees during that freeze). Coop bedding is pine shavings and straw. Location: western Ukraine. Any thoughts on what this is?
