Hen with bare bum

What is flystrike and how can you treat it?
It's really hard for me to see in the picture, so I could be wrong, but flystrike is when flies lay their eggs on a chicken, and the eggs hatch and the resulting maggots start tunneling into the chicken. If you look closely, and there are maggots, that is what you're dealing with. There are several threads on treating it here on BYC, if you search flystrike.

How's your hen?, I bet it was Lice and not fly strike, right? Fly strike is UGLY! The maggots basically eat your chicken, calves and lambs get it too, it kills. I had lice for the first time this spring, I think because my girls couldn't dust bathe in the Winter or Spring  , -40 degrees this winter and Wet,Wet spring!! I sprayed them with Permethrin (HORSE FLY SPRAY) also comes in a brand Safeguard ( you have to dilute), I dusted them with DE and then a week later, Poultry and garden dust ( I got at Tractor Supply). Last check was Sunday, no lice or any other critters.
