Hen with bloody comb

Separate her and get pictures. Chickens are cannibals and will peck at blood. I would coat the wound with some Neosporin that has NO pain killer. How much space do you have?

They have quite a bit of space and a large outdoor run.

Apparently you've never seen some of my chickens.... The hens go for the head, and they peck HARD. They're always after the head. I've seen several combs pecked badly. I've even had hens missing fingers from their combs due to pecking order. It's chickens in a run. When they're free ranging, and are rarely ever in each other's space, there is never this problem. I've dealt with this problem countless times, with different chickens and flocks and in different runs. I've even experimented with what run has the least amount of pecking issues.

Sounds like you have a lot of birds. How many birds do you have?

I have always done LONG integrations. I have seen fighting, but rarely see blood. Though I have a hen who has shed blood before, I always watch them, so it is never on more than one bird.

I have 5 hens that i got as day olds on August 18th. They have always lived together and recently started laying. We get 4 eggs a day. Today when i was out with them i noticed that the comb of one was bloody and saw another hen attack its comb when it was in run. Is this normal and any advice? She is eating and drinking and the aggression is not constant.

I guess chickens just can't have it. Not sure, but I have always been told that. @Wyorp Rock any ideas as to why that is?

It's not that uncommon for hens to get into a squabble and if a comb gets pecked or cut, it will bleed like crazy.
If they have just started laying eggs, tensions are likely running high. I've had fighting over nesting boxes and sometimes a pullet that has just come into lay acts a bit "strange" to the others and they peck at her.

I generally just wipe off the blood, if still actively bleeding wait until it stops, then put the bird back into the flock and observe. I rarely put any ointment or treat a comb injury unless it's really torn.

As for suggesting using an ointment with "no pain killer".
Some triple antibiotic ointments contain Lidocaine or an ingredient that ends in "caine". You can research it if you wish, seems there's a debate as to whether ingredients ending in "caine" are toxic to chickens or not - so as a precaution, it's often suggested to just avoid ointments with pain relief. There's SO many products on the market available, it's fairly easy to just avoid it

Yes, this^^^.
And if they shake their heads it splatters all over, looking like murder scene.
Have had this happen numerous times over the years, finding blood splatters but rarely finding the wounded comb.
No need to treat it at all, IME.
A bit of blood about is not going to cause your birds to eat each other.
