Big Momma (New Jersey Giant) and her two tiny Serama babies are in the nursery wing of the coop and doing very well.

She is, however, very protective, and I have a number of other chicks in there that are fearful because if they get anywhere near the babies Big Momma attacks them.

I would rather one hen and two chicks did not pretty much occupy the whole room, and I am thinking of moving her and her babies to a smaller room. Is there a problem with this? She won't suddenly decide to abandon them or something will she?

Bumping, which is against the rules, is posting a reply to move the thread back up to the top of the recent posts.

You can probably move her without a problem, though I would do it at night; they seem to notice changes less this way. No way to know til you try it, really.

I hope someone on here can answer your question. I was trying to help the post get noticed by someone with more knowledge than me. guess it didn't work. Maybe someone will answer it today if they see it.
