Hen with clear liquid from vent

I would just make sure that she is eating and drinking. Holding a cup of water up to her beak or dipping her beak might get her to drink. Offering egg and other treats may shiwnyou that she has a good appetite. Hens who are having problems with broken eggs inside the vent may be too sick to eat or drink. We just want to make sure that she is not having a problem. Chickens, if they have been drinking a lot of fluids, may have watery droppings.

I made eggs with garlic and had some sour milk for them. Cinnamon is the one with the issue. She was the first one out of the coop. First one to eat. LoL stuck her head in the feeder too. She did drink some of the milk.
So, what’s next? I haven’t checked the vent yet as I need my caffeine to kick in first and it’s going to be a little warmer later. I have lots of work to do and will be headed to tsc. Should I pick up some vitamins or electrolytes while out?

If I was you being the crazy chicken lady I am might consider seeing if the discharge cooks like an egg to see what we’re dealing with... It’s gross but that would show you if it is or can rule it out... You don’t have to It does sound kinda gross now that I think about it so maybe used something you don’t used to cook...

I don’t think I would do that, but interesting thought. There’s no more discharge and I have already cleaned up the bedding where the wet spot was. I’m going to take a better look at her vent later today to see if there is anything going on back there. That’s about as crazy as I’m going to get. With that being said, I would take it a step farther and check inside the vent if needed. I had male guinea pigs before and you have to clean their glands. Talk about fun! Lol

It is always good to have some vitamins with electrolytes around for a sick chicken. If she looks better, and is drinking well, she may not need them. You can use Poultry Cell or Poultry NutriDrench liquid, 2-3 ml daily or use some powdered ones in the water, such Vitamins with Lactobacillus, SaveAChick, or Durvet vitamins with electrolytes.

Hopefully she just had a temporary blip. Disposable gloves are good to have in case of doing a vent check to check for a stuck egg.

Just an update. I was out today putting welded wire around their new CP run and let them out when I could keep an eye on them. I watched everyone to see how they were doing - all are interacting just fine. Pecking. Running around, following me (to see if I had any treats ha!), etc.

I checked vents and didn’t see anything too weird except a little dried poo. I was able to pick that off. As for Cinnamon, I felt her all over (except not inside the vent). I didn’t feel anything odd. I felt the others as well so that I could tell what was normal and compare it if needed.

I bought some oyster shell and rooster booster. I had been feeding them back their own eggshells, but not sure it was enough as far as extra calcium.

I only got two eggs again today. Should they be getting extra calcium while they are not laying? Or will they only eat it if they need it? They didn’t seem super interested in it. Except to see what it was.
