Hen with dirty bum

I have two hens just now that have very dirty bums. I really don't know what to do about it as last year another of my hens had one and it attracted the flies giving it maggots and eventually killing it. Any advice would be great, thanks

I take warm water and a mild soap and wash their vent area.than I take a small pair of scissors and trim them up.don't cut to close or they will have a naked bum.I hold their vent feathers in between my index and middle finger.like a hair dresser does when you get a hair cut.that way i want end up injuring your hens.
