I have a 1yr old glw hen whose butt looked terrible. She had feces caked on the feathers and an awful smelly white discharge coming from her vent. I couldnt stand it anymore and gave her a bath in warm water and dawn. I managed to get most of the feces out and can see that much of her fuzzy butt has lost feathers. Her skin looks better (not as red) but she still has a nasty odiferous white discharge. I noticed when she pooped, it was clear/foamy. A couple other of my hens also have poopy butts but not bad enough to wash. I tried looking up her symptoms in my chicken health handbook to no avail. Any ideas? I will try to get pics and post. She is eating and drinking, freeranging, laying eggs and still mean but the discharge concerns me.
