Hen with labored breathing

Ok I’ll use the tylosin, she doesn’t have bubbly or foamy eyes, and she’s doesn’t have an enlarged under belly, I’ve been checking her daily because I’ve had a hen with water belly. I can’t currently fully seperate her and don’t see how much it could do after almost a week of symptoms but I can’t set up a temporary pen in my coop where she can’t get controlled food and medication and peace from the others
Yes give the medicine a try, see if that helps. See that she is eating and drinking enough. If she needs separated for peace and to get food/water, a large wire dog crate works well if you can get one. That way she can still be in site of the flock.

Right now I am using a a play pen that I can adjust the size of, it also works better because I don’t want hens roosting and pooping on her in a crate, but I do have crates to use if needed.

my hen was feeling better for a while, so I let her out out of the cage and ended up treating my whole flock with tylosin but tonight I noticed that her breathing had started being labored again and she is now sneezing and looks worse than she was before. should I put her in a kennel with antibiotics or is there something else I can do? I have run out of tylosin , but I’m trying to get more. Where I get my tylosin is sold out right now so I ordered a doxy tylosin mix for now

Mycoplasma (MG) is a chronic life long infection. Since they can have a recurrence during times of stress, it would probably be good to keep tylosin or tiagard/denagard around to treat when their is an outbreak in the flock.

So this is a mycoplasma flare up? I recently ran out of tylosin because I had to treat my flock , the doxy tylosin will arrive on 4/24 until then I can give her probiotics and vet rx

It looks like it to me. Since MG is a chronic disease, you can see later outbreaks, or even see it in others. I don’t recommend the doxy-tyl, since doxycycline requires an egg withdrawal time. Tylosin by itself does not. TiaGard or Denagard also do not require an egg withdrawal time, but also treat MG symptoms.
