Final clean and dress for Hazel I think, or should I dress her for a little longer?

Shadow's (I was calling her Fatty because of the terribly non pc song from the 70s "Hey Fatty Boom Boom, a reference to her waterbelly giving her a very large rear. I should really stop as it might give her a complex on top of everything else!) foot also appearing to be nearly ready to dispense with dressing.

The SLM is gradually clearing up. I'll keep spraying them every couple of days till that is cleared up.
Thank you again for all the help.
Richard.

Good job on everything! Dispensing with the dressing at this point is up to you. Personally, I like to wait until the scab is completely healed up. I didn't do this one time and the bumble returned; but, they don't always. Depends on their terrain. As I mentioned before we have lots of sand burs and green brier for them to injure themselves on so I always come down on the side of caution. :)

I am sure she doesn't mind being called Fatty as long as there is a treat in your hand. HAHAHA.

Again, good job!

Fatty's foot does no longer seem infected and Hazels legs and feet will appear brand new after getting rid of the scaly leg mites and the old scales.

Split straw is great and the double-sided adhesive tape will show immediately if new mites were brought in.

Fresh sand is also what I treat my flocks to several timer a year and the love it.

So all in all things are looking good and you can start to relax and enjoy summer.
Thank you all! I trolled around other posts and have been soaking her foot and wrapping it with drawing salve. It looks much better, swelling and redness is all but gone…but the black scab is still there.
I think I’ll just continue with the same. The less invasive, the better

Glad your gal is doing better. During one of your wrapping changes, you might try to pull that scab off and see if a hardened pus kernel comes out with it. If it doesn't, no foul as it will give a fresh opening for the salve /antibiotic ointment to get into the wound to help the healing process. :)

I had bought a silver colloidal spray as well, in case I operated. If I open the scab, should I spray that and then use the salve, too?

Good morning, Janet.

If you open the scab, basically clean and dry it afterwards. You can use any antimicrobial and/or antibiotic wash. (I like chlorhexidine. If you get this read the label carefully as some brands come in extreme concentation). If the infection is gone (or comes out with the scab), then apply triple antibiotic ointment (not cream and no pain relief) to the wound and continue to dress it until the wound is healed.

If no infection comes out or if you still feel there is infection, then wash/dry and continue with the drawing salve and perhaps alternate with triple antibiotic ointment.
