I have a two year old English orpington hen that I found in the enclosed chicken run. I thought she was dead, upon further inspection she is alive and appears to have a prolapse. She was fine yesterday- running around the yard. The I’ve cleaned her up and currently have her in a tub soaking with some sugar water to lessen the swelling.
This is livestock and I’m not taking her to the vet; however, if there is anything I can do at home before culling is the final option I’ll try it.
I will add the chickens are in with turkeys- however I’ve never seen our Tom attempt to breed the chickens. They get along well, but not THAT well.

I would try to make sure there is not an egg inside there. That is a little worse of a prolapse that usual, and I would try to push it back inside. Honey or sugar with a few drops of water are good for helping swelling go down. Keep any red prolapsed tissue moist with the honey or use an oil such as coconut, mineral, or olive. If the red tissue dries out, it can die. Has she been able to poop? If she cannot pass droppings, egg binding may be the case.
