Hen with saddle

Hi I have a hen that has been wearing a saddle for about two or three weeks now and I felt underneath, as soon as I lifted up her saddle I felt some heat on her skin and her skin feels dry and rough, does she need some petroleum jelly or will it encourage pecking?

I wouldn't use petroleum jelly. I'd use aloe or an A+D ointment.

Have you thought about trimming your rooster's spurs, or separating him out for a while? That way her back could have a breather.
