If you cut them they will bleed. You can pop them rite off with very little blood. Simply hold the leg at the base of the spur. Twist the spur back & forth in a circular motion while pulling. Like you would a child's loose tooth. The outer spur will pop rite off. There will be a short fresh sharp spur under it. It will have a few small drops of blood, then it will harden. It doesn't hurt the bird at all. Some people grind & cauterize them which is painful & permanent.
