Hen with squinty eye and sore throat (?)

One of my hens is not well. One of her eyes is not full open, it is like the top lid collapsed, and instead of her usual chatter she sounds like she has lost her voice and is hoarse.
Her other eye is fine, and she is eating and drinking.

Any ideas?

I just went out to take a closer look and it seems that her nostrils are blocked as well, although there is no wet discharge.

Further update:

It's only the nostril on the squinty side that is blocked, I tried to wipe it with a warm cloth but there was no improvement.

Aside from one side of her face being odd, and her voice being gone, she seems fine (feisty as ever and eager to eat the lettuce I brought out), but I am worried that she may have something contagious.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

It's good that she has an appetite! When I think that something is off with one of my birds I usually give them a wet mash with 1 tsp yogurt, four drops of poly-vi-sol kid's vitamin (WITHOUT Iron!) and some cod liver oil mixed in for extra nutrition. I also put a little organic apple cider vinegar in their water.

I don't know what could be wrong with her. Maybe she got into something that irritated her throat and eye? Her symptoms can also be a sign of several different respiratory illnesses. It may be wise to separate her from the flock until you are certain that she is not contagious.

There is a series of questions at the top of the "Emergencies" section. If you fill that out and post it, maybe someone else will have some ideas.

I hope your girl is OK!
