Hen with swollen abdomen

She's almost 2 years and suddenly over Christmas break her belly got swollen. She since has acted with lower energy but she eats and drinks, poops, her comb is red. She waddles around like a penguin. I thought at first she was egg bound, but obviously since she's still with us thats not the problem. Now we are 2.5 months later and she's not getting worse or better. Any ideas as to what her condition is? I don't have funds to take her to a vet, but if there's something I can do to help her get better or even alleviate her symptoms I'd like to try.

It sounds a s if she might have an internal laying problem. It can also affect the liver causing ascites or fluid in the lower belly making it tight and causing shortness of breath. Runny droppings, a lack of appetite, and penguin walk or wanting to sit can be other symptoms. Each case is different, and there may not be much that you can do, but some people use antibiotics or seek vet care.
