Is it possible for a hen to grow talons???
I have a brown leghorn (hen?) with talons, about 1" long... is it possible?
The bird looks like all the other hens like her/him. It does not look like a rooster from the pix i've seen.

Do you mean "Spurs" I have heard of hens getting small spurs but if they are as long as you say I would guess its a Roo and just very good at hiding it.. Can you get a pic?

Ok just saw the 2 yrs old thing... So roo is out .. i have heard where some hens take on a male role and can even sometimes crow and have saddle feathers ..So i guess its possible that they coould grow spurs as well>>

they are definitely spurs.
she looks just like the rest of her breed mates. No rooster markings or "coloring", no long tail feathers.

I have a hen with spurs. She's not the first one I've ever had. It's not a big deal. She's just like any other hen. She's not aggressive or rooish at all, she just happened to grow some pretty impressive spurs.

I am assuming she may be the problem in the nest boxes, broken eggs and/or small hole(s) in the shell.
