Sorry everybody...went out of town for part of the day and just got back. I took Nugget to the vet this morning and she actually only gave advice. She told me to go home and superglue the crack. She said at this point (because the crack is so high up and close to her nostrils) there is really not much to do other than try to keep it on the best we can to allow the tissues underneath a chance to heal and regenerate. So, when I got her home I super glued the crack. That was nerve wracking as I was trying to super glue without getting it in her nostrils or letting it drip into her mouth. Terrifying, but we made it okay and nothing was stuck together at the end...including me.

She advised deep dishes for eating so she would be able to get her beak in without hitting it on the bottom of the dish. She said water shouldn't be a problem for her because she will continue to use the scooping motion. She also recommended a formula for baby parrots to mix up in her food for extra protein and vitamins. I made her a mash tonight with that as well as her regular food. She isn't interested in that at all, so I guess I will have to strongly suggest she eat via syringe. I have been giving her water with a syringe too.

Thanks for all the well wishes and good vibes today!! You are all so awesome!!

Thanks so much for the update. That had to be difficult to do so close to the nostrils. Hoping the best for a strong recovery for her.

Sounds like you now have more experience in setting a beak than the vet does. GREAT job!!
