Hi all, I recently purchased four Orpington bantams and they're well - however, one of them has runny poop...

It smells strong. They've been treated for cocci and also wormed so I think this can be ruled out. I've also tried cider vinegar in the water for a couple of days but the problem persists. My Pekin bantams had cecal poops that were a small brown paste so I assume it's not this, plus it seems to be more frequent. Any ideas? thanks

Those are cecal poops and normal. Cecal poos come in different colors, and is a result of the feed being fermented in the 2 ceca, located between the small and large intestines. ACV doesn’t really do much for chickens, and contrary to what you may read is not that helpful or necessary. It doesn’t prevent coccidiosis or worms. Clean waterers, water and feed are the important things, along with clean dry bedding is what is best.

Thanks for your help! Very interesting that different breeds have different bowel habits! The Orpingtons also scratch up the grass a lot more than the pekins did
