I’m okay not removing the scab...I don’t know if I have the stomach for that! I’ll put her back on the roost in the morning and keep an eye out for infection, fly strike & blood and only intervene if necessary. I agree less is more usually. I’m also going to look into making or purchasing a hen saddle/apron to help protect her from future injuries.I'm big on leaving stuff alone and not doing too much. Chickens in general are good at healing. I wouldn't be pulling off scabs or even trying to soften them. Nature usually knows what it is doing. It's hard for humans to leave it be sometimes. I only step in if it appears it isn't healing or the bird looks sick, which so far has been never.![]()
