Hi,new here and new to chickens.I bought six birds two weeks ago today I think their EE layers,I don't care what they are I really enjoy them.everything has been going great until yesterday my grey hen doesn't want to come off the roost even to eat.her neck looks to be swollen.they are a year old and come from a nice clean home .any sugestions would be great.thank you

First off, Welcome to BYC.
Second, if neck is swollen and she is not eating she could have an impacted crop (crop is full and she cannot digest). Search the threads for this, there is some good info. Are there any other signs? Wheezing or difficulty breathing, abnormal poo, watery eyes, black spots on comb or waddles?

a crop is a sac found near the bottom of the neck, kind of sits on the breast, slightly to the hen's right.
if she is not eating, it should feel empty or flat.
feel the crop and see how it feels..hard, like a water balloon, squishy..
feel for any lump or grainy feeling...or sour odor.

is she sitting hunched up and depressed looking?

describe the droppings..color and consistency.

what all are you feeding them?

I've Been Feeding Them Layer Crumbles,They Free Range Four A Couple Hours A Day,They Get Oyster Shells And Grit.I Would Say Her Poo Is Runny,She Sits With Her Head Tucked Down A Bit. I Think Thats Why I Thought Her Neck Was Swelled.I Gave Her The Warm Water And Baking Soda Today, All That Came Back Up Was The Clear Fluid.Tryed To Feed Her Bread Soaked In Olive Oil But She Would Not Eat.Eyes Are Clear,No Problem Breathing,She Just Seems To Have No Energy.Hope This May Help A Little. Thanks
