Hen won't stand on her own - curled toes, legs

Hi,

I have a Rhode Island Red, who is almost 2 years old, that started limping about 5 days ago. I thought she had hurt her hip coming down from something, like the top of the chicken coop. I had this happen to one lady a month or so ago (I brought her inside for 2 1/2 - 3 weeks and she is now fine). Anyway, I thought this girl had hurt herself also.

3 days ago, I found this Rhode Island Red in the coop in a nesting box. I brought her indoors and she hasn't moved on her own since. She will not even move for fresh bread. She just lays there. I have placed her water and feed next to her. When I pick her up to try and get her to stand, both feet curl and she makes no attempt to stand on her own or to bring her legs down from her body. Her legs just curl up under her.

These are not the same symptoms as the other chicken. This chicken went from a limp to totally not able to use her both her legs and her toes are curled.

I do not see any difference in her eyes, both pupils are nice and round.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry I have no experience with this but you might want to research riboflavin deficiency- curly toe paralysis vs. mareks??

Thank you for your reply. I ended up taken her to the vet and she is in heaven now. :-( I don't know what her ailment was but I do know she was going downhill quickly. Not able to move herself in any way. Sad day at our house.
