Henpecked hen has HOLE in her back-Update

No there is not a rooster. All hens were picking on her. All except the other easter egger (they always stick together) However I just put the numbing antibiotic and I saw the easter egger pick at her but I think just to see what it was. Then she is wiping her beak like crazy. I am sure her mouth is numb. Is this OK?

Should I wipe it off? The tube says for horses and dogs and I imagine they would lick it as well, so maybe it is ok to ingest.

Maybe it taste so bad it will prevent further pecking. What do you think? Sorry for all the questions, I have never been through something like this.

It is called TRI-Care 3 way wound treatment contains benzocaine and menthol. It says 1. prevents infection 2. aids in pain relief and 3. water and germ barrier

It says a Farnam Horse Product

I've never heard of it, but from what I've read anything with "caine" shouldn't be put on chickens. I would wipe it off. Hopefully others will chime in.

DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!! My rooster is dead because of it. Benzocaine shuts down the nervous system. He was dead within 5 minutes. I put it on his wattles because it had nasty tasting stuff in it and the girls were picking at his wattles and comb alot. It has lots of natural stuff, so it sounded good. No warnings on it not to use it on birds, either,

Now I think I have read that before too. I hope I didn't do any harm to her. Does anyone know why not to put "caine" on chickens?

OMG I am going to go wipe it off but there is alot on there because the wound was so deep. I filled the wound. Holy Moly I hope I didn't hurt them. This is an awful day.

Caine products are used in labs to euthanize amphibians. It can be fatal to birds. Try to get it off your bird immediately. Flush with saline solution. It will probably kill faster if applied to the comb and/or wattles, due to the high blood flow there, but should never be used on chickens.
