Morning to all~
My silly girls have been allowed to free range in my yard and were laying eggs every day in their nesting boxes. I noticed they were traveling across the dirt road to my neighbors and I'd go shoo them back into my yard. Then I stopped getting eggs and thought maybe they were stressed from me chasing them around hehe. The no egg thing went on for about a week and I went out to check for eggs one morning and the dominant hen got out and RAN across the road to my neighbors shed where I found a whole dozen eggs. I gathered them up and now they aren't even laying in the shed or their coop anymore.

I couldn't find them yesterday, I called and called, (they usually come for treats when I call them) but they were nowhere to be found AND I am not getting eggs again. What can I do? I feel bad leaving them in the coop all day and I have no idea where they are laying this time. They wait until I go in the house before they take off to lay and I don't have all day to follow them all the time. My girls have gotten very smart lol

Any advice?

can you put up a run or fence to keep them laying some where in your yard? is your yard really big? my guess would be you will have to figure out a run or fence to keep them in. then they would lay in the run area and still would be able to forage if you make it a large run. where I live I'm close to a river and have all kinds of birds of prey so I have to keep mine in a run for there own safety. but maybe that would help your situation too? good luck and hope you get it figured out!
