Hens attacking rooster

I just got a new rooster about 3 days ago and my hens won’t stop attacking and pecking him. I have 3 hens and one rooster the rooster is only 1 or 2 months younger than the hens. The rooster is the calmest rooster I’ve ever seen. Does anyone know? Thanks

Separate them, and place him in a pen adjacent to the hens. After a couple of weeks add one of the hens to his pen. They will likely fight, but he should win. After a couple of days add a second hen. Do the same to add the third hen. 3 on 1 was more than a young rooster could handle.

Maybe if you put him in a separate cage inside or beside their coop so the hens can get used to him?
