Hens beating up my rooster

Our rooster is older than our hens. He is the only rooster that they know since we have raised 13 of the hens from 1 day old so we are stumped as to why he wont show them he is king and why they just keep beating him up. We have 15 hens and I am a little nervous getting another roo due to putting another in with the one we have I dont want them to fight.

so what happened of that situation Amy? How did you sort it out? because I have the same problem now

I have a Buff Orpington that has been with my others for almost 2 months now, and recently she has been standing up to my Roo and this morning she went after him and make him back down. I am interested to hear what might cause it. She is very docile up till about a week or two now and is only aggressive to him. She has not attcked him, but if he get close to her she puffs out her feathers and stands on her toes to make herself bigger. He is scared of her!

Any one with any thoughts?
